Preparing for

Ceremony

It is important that we arrive to ceremony as prepared as possible to receive the blessings and healing that this medicine has to offer us, so we follow an energetic, physical, and spiritual diet to do so.

This medicine works best for us when our internal environment is as clean as possible. Please read through the following information carefully, and if you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Diet

If your lifestyle includes many of the restricted things, it’s best to begin diet preparations 2 weeks before the ceremony, if your lifestyle does not include many of the restricted things, one week is sufficient.

The food items to be avoided during the preparation diet are as follows: red meat (especially pork), dairy, alcohol, junk food, spicy food, greasy or deep-fried food, overly processed foods, caffeine, food high in processed sugars, and soft drinks.

For 3 days before the ceremony, avoid acidic food (like lemons, limes, vinegar etc) fermented foods (kombucha, sauerkraut etc) excess of garlic and onions, and the day of ceremony avoid eating mushrooms as they take a long time to digest.

Recommended foods are lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, and grains. Chicken and fish is okay (better if organic, hormone free) but should be avoided the day before and the day of the ceremony.

Energy

It is best to be in a peaceful energy before attending ceremony. Be mindful not to contaminate your thoughts with too much media, movies, or conflictual conversations or violence.

Its very helpful to set aside a few minutes each day to clear your thoughts, connect to yourself, and spend time in nature if possible.

Note: life does not always go as planned, and sometimes impactful things may happen as we are preparing for ceremony, or we may feel called to ceremony to help us heal from something difficult.

Its important to know that this medicine is highly intelligent, and can also be beneficial in this way.

If you’re struggling, it doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t come, sometimes ceremony is the very thing that can help us break through and transmute difficult.

Please contact Fia directly to discuss this more if you find yourself in this space.

Sexual Activity

During the days of preparation, it is also important to withhold from sexual activity.

This medicine works so much with the energy system in the body, helping us to balance and purify, and when we engage in sexual acts with another person, we absorb energy from them.

Of course, this isn’t always a bad thing, but it is counterproductive to come into the medicine with the energy of another person in your system.

If we disregard this part, it can often create confusion within us, or create an unpleasant experience with the medicine. Self-pleasuring is also to be avoided for a minimum of 3 days before the ceremony.

Substances

Marijuana, alcohol, and other consciousness altering substances should be avoided for the full 2 weeks before ceremony. Again, mixing these substances too close to drinking the medicine crosses our energies, and can create a number of unpleasant or harmful effects.

*A note on Marijuana- We recognize this plant as a healing medicine, but it works in a way very different from la abuela. If we are frequent consumers, our psychic channel can become clouded, and our thoughts unbalanced.

If we disregard abstaining, there is a high chance that the medicine will not take effect, the effects will be very minimal, or you may need to cleanse (vomiting and going to the bathroom) much more than you might otherwise.

Medications

There are several prescription medications as well as preexisting health conditions that are not compatible with this medicine, and can be very dangerous to mix with. We cannot stress enough how important it is to be honest about what medications you’re taking, as well as your mental/physical health history.

If you are on any prescription medications, please let me know as soon as possible, and we can discuss your options.

A brief list of the most dangerous medications / health conditions include:

• SSRI’s, MAOI’s, or other antidepressants
• Heart and blood pressure medications
• Psychiatric medications
• Recent Surgeries
• Epilepsy
• High or Low blood pressure
• Severe bi-polar, multiple personality disorder, and other dissociative disorders
• Pregnancy

Intention

It is beneficial to have a clear intention before coming to ceremony.

Why do you want to have this experience? Healing? Self-discovery? Spiritual growth and expansion?

Having an honest, and clear intention helps us to approach la abuela with more integrity and authenticity.

Remember, this medicine is not for recreation or to party.

Remember

that our healing/learning may not always look the way that we think it should. Sometimes to get where we want to go, the path to arriving there can hold many surprises, and things to be worked through and overcome.

It is very important to trust this beautiful, ancient medicine, and the way she brings us healing/growth. Facing our shadows and adversity is a fundamental part if releasing / overcoming it. This medicine has been helping humanity for many many generations, and is an ally of human consciousness. She is so very worthy of our trust!

Another thing to consider: These ceremonies follow a traditional, indigenous lineage. This is not a clinical experience, rather a shamanic one. These traditions and practices have been cultivated for thousands of years to create the safest, most potent and beneficial format for delivering the healing these medicines have to offer. It is important that you’re able to trust that process.

Fia is joyful to share the gift of this medicine with you, dear kindred, and looks forward to sharing sacred space with you soon!
